SPEED-SAVER

SPEED-SAVER

SPEED SAVER-Automatic top speed controller for IC vehicles with conventional accelerator cables

SS-701 Kit Includes:

  • Gear tooth speed sensor that is to be installed in axle differential to read gear speed
  • Controller with indicator LEDs and adjustment pots
  • Electronic motor actuator "arm"
  • Cable or rod connecting "arm" to throttle lever on engine (includes brackets and connectors)

Features:

  • Controls vehicle top speed WITHOUT effecting engine RPM at low travel speed
  • Therefore the device does NOT effect low speed power necessary for heavy hydraulic lifting operations.
  • Designed to work seamlessly with "Tier2" emission systems.

How it works:

  • Controls a vehicle's top speed WITHOUT restricting engine RPM at low travel speed.
  • When the vehicle reaches idle speed - device's "arm" actuates a cable connected to the engine throttle lever--restricting it's stroke.
  • The throttle lever stroke is restricted----which controls top speed by restricting engine RPM.
  • When the vehicle speed is reduced below "idle" speed - the "arm" relaxes and the engine throttle again has full stroke (full power) available.

Installation:

A "standard" SPEED-SAVER kit comes with mounting brackets and connecting cable with hardware---in some cases, these brackets must be modified to fit a particular forklift. Some units, however can be ordered expressly for the model forklift you will be installing it on. This way, the brackets and hardware are designed for that exact forklift and little, if any, modifications must be made----making installation easier for the mechanics.

Product Options & Accessories

Speed Zone Controls---See Options:

  • Optional receiver on the forklift is connected to the SPEED-SAVER power input line
  • Transmitters are placed in a zone and range pot set to 40'--400' range
  • When forklift enters ZONE + picks up signal, power is supplied to the SPEED SAVER + top speed is controlled
  • When forklift leaves ZONE, signal is lost and power is disrupted to SPEED SAVER and speed is not restricted.
  • SPEED SAVER EL-Automatic top speed controller for IC vehicles with “fly by wire” accelerators

    SSEL-701 Kit Includes:

    • Electronic controller that connects into vehicle ECU and speed sensor (check with factory for "plug and play" connectors for your brand of engine and machine
    • Calibrator device for setting speed perimeters (this is billed at time of purchase and fully refunded when the calibrator is returned to the factory)
    • OPTIONAL: Gear tooth speed sensor (check to see if your brand of machine already has a speed sensor that the SPEED-SAVER EL can connect into

    Features:

    • Controls vehicle top speed WITHOUT effecting engine RPM at low travel speed
    • Therefore the device does NOT effect low speed power necessary for heavy hydraulic lifting operations.
    • Controls and limits vehicle "take off speed" that can prevent "burn outs" and provide smoother ramp up speed

    How it works:

    • Controls vehicle's top speed MV reading that the engine ECU sees from the accelerator
    • Ramp up speed (acceleration speed) can be smoothly controlled by setting time/MV output the ECU sees from the accelerator.

    Installation:

Some makes/models of equipment are "plug and play" --simply connect SPEED-SAVER EL to the proper connector for the ECU and for the speed sensor already on the vehicle (if there is no speed sensor present, you must install on the differential). Check below for your engine and model type and order the proper "sub model" for that machine. The device will then come with the proper connector that will provide a more "plug and play" fit. .

Before ordering any EL model, you should always check with factory for availability and updates. Currently EL "fly by wire" systems are available for most Toyota, Nissan, Mitsubishi and Caterpillar lift trucks. EL are "plug and play" for some forklifts (Toyota) and others may require some splicing of the controller into place.
